Dennis E. Koster

Dennis E. Koster, 76, Minneapolis, died Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the Salina Regional Health Center. Dennis was born May 10, 1947, in Salina to Nicholas P. and Filicitia (Gerstner) Koster.

Dennis was a 1965 graduate of Tescott High School. After serving in the United States Air Force, he attended Kansas State University and graduated from Fort Hays with his teaching degree. Dennis was a teacher and farmer for many years.

On November 27, 1970, he and Theresa Troske were united in marriage and were blessed with five children, Brian, Laura, Joe, Jared, and Rachel. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2008. Dennis married Joyce (Lantz) Eckroat on July 30, 2016. Together, they enjoyed traveling, camping, and attended western swing dances where they made many friends. Dennis also enjoyed fishing.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Tescott American Legion. Dennis was also a Third-Degree Knights of Columbus.

Besides Theresa, he was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Jennifer (Koster) Wangerin.

Survivors are his wife, Joyce; children, Brian and his wife, Emily, Laura Cheah and her husband, Shannon, Joe and his wife, Candice, Jared and his wife, Jill, and Rachel Boelter and her husband, David; two step-children, Lori Downey and her husband, Mike and Mike Eckroat and his wife, Stephanie; brothers, Don and Jim and his wife, Deb; sister, Janice Peters; six grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and 12 step-greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., Friday, June 16 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Minneapolis, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Franklin Cemetery, Tescott. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Post #3201 or to the Dennis Koster Scholarship Fund which will be designated at a later date and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
