Auxiliary to assist with Toy Run

The VFW Auxiliary will once again assist the Citizens State Bank with the Toy Run conducted by the Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club. Scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11, the Run will begin in Sylvan Grove at 1:00 and will end at the Bank where the toys will be stored until they are used in the Bank’s annual Christmas Angel Tree project. The Auxiliary will supply homemade cookies and drinks at the VFW Hall following.

Walter hosts Piano recital in Sylvan Grove

Lois Walter, of Sylvan Grove, hosted a piano recital Saturday, August 15, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church’s Parish Hall in Sylvan Grove. Performers included (L-R) Back Row: Anna Feldkamp, Isaac Schultz, Layne Buttenhoff, Jacob Schultz. Middle Row: Lois Walter, Abigail Feldkamp, Kenzley Frederking. Front Row: Cason Seehafer, Ben Feldlkamp, Adelyn Mills, Nash Seehafter, Briggs Seehafer. The students, ranging in age from young beginners to high school age, played two solos each as well as a duet with Mrs. Walter. Over 50 people attended the event which included refreshments. Even though the students’ lessons were briefly interrupted by Covid-19 restrictions earlier this year, Walter reported that several of the students actually advanced, as they practiced more during the Covid lock-down. This event was Lois Walter’s 27th consecutive piano recital. (Courtesy photo)
