Dees to celebrate 80th birthday

The monthly meeting for the Hometown Helpers was held in the towne hall in Sylvan Grove on February 1, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. The roll call was “what is the most annoying pet at home.” 22 members, two leaders, eight parents and six guests answered the roll call. The Dohl family did a presentation on their pigs. Before our meeting we pracitced our skit for 4-H day.
Kaylee Babcock and Tru Haesemeyer, both sophomores at Lincoln Jr./Sr. High School, were selected for the KMEA District and All-State Honor Choirs. The KMEA All-State Choirs perform each year at the annual In-Service Workshop at Century II Convention Center in Wichita. Students are selected through a vigorous audition process beginning at the district level. Students with the top audition scores who perform at the district level are then eligible for selection to the All-State Choirs.
Hunter Huntsman 4-Her Kale Sorensen gave a demonstration on soldering at the Post Rock District 4-H Day held in Beloit on February 8. He received a blue ribbon for his talk. The Hunter Huntsman 4-H Club also entered a model meeting and received a blue ribbon. Other Hunter Huntsman 4-Hers who participated in individ-ual events were: Maren Sorensen, Clara Sorensen, Bethany Jordan, Ruth Jordan, Climena Jordan, Sydney Heller, Molly Heller, Sam Heller. The Hunter Huntsman 4-H Club meets on the first Monday of each month at 7pm at the Hunter Community Building.
Lois Rosebrook, Tescott, will turn 90 years young March 13, 2020.
Leota Pauline (Allison) Hurlbut of Sylvan Grove will celebrate 100 years of life March 12, 2020. The daughter of Jennie Palmer Allison and Floyd Allison, Leota was born during a blizzard on the family farm just east of Lucas March 12, 1920.

Work continues at the Lincoln Art Center as volunteers clean, repair and prepare the existing flooring for new floors. The current flooring is 50 years old. This project was made
