Make the most of your summer
With summer vacation in full swing, kids are faced with the question: “What am I going to do today?” Here are some things you can suggest to kids over the upcoming summer months to avoid the dreaded “I’m bored.”
“Petroglyphs of the Kansas Smoky Hills”
The Lincoln County Historical Society will present a program on “Petroglyphs of the Kansas Smoky Hills” at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at the museum. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
Dog days of summer
Bring out those lazy hazy crazy days of summer and that is what I want to talk about. We will be celebrating the the 4th of July soon and the sizzling days of summer and we need to take extra care of our pets. I would like to give you a few reminders to keep them safe.
Lincoln High School class of 1967 holds reunion
The Lincoln High School Class of 1967 held their 55th year Class Reunion Saturday, June 4 in conjunction with the Alumni Weekend. Some of the classmates had lunch and attended the Alumni Meeting at the High School early in the day and later in the afternoon gathered at the Lincoln Golf Course Club House for a light evening buffet and lots of conversation, laughter and remembrances. Local students achieve honor roll at Bethany College
LINDSBORG, KAN. (June 1, 2022) - Bethany College, in Lindsborg, Kansas has named 213 students to the Academic Dean’s Honor Roll for spring 2022. Students must be enrolled full-time with a semester grade point average of at least 3.50, to qualify.
First Presbyterian Vacation Bible School
The First Presbyterian Church had a very successful Vacation Bible School May 31-June 3. Our theme for the week was Food Truck Party! The average attendance was 34 energetic kids! Our mission for VBS this year is to raise money and canned goods for the Lincoln County Food Bank. We collected $569.67 and several boxes of food! Hands-On Learning at Post Rock District 4-H Judging Extravaganza
Post Rock District 4-H members tested their knowledge in woodworking, entomology, photography, health, plant science, sewing, and more at the 4-H Judging Extravaganza in Vesper on Saturday, April 23. The Lincoln County 4-H Council sponsored the event, and Post Rock District 4-H Program Coordinators Tonia Underwood and Kim Naber organized the contests. Thirty-two 4-H members competed individually and in teams in junior and senior divisions.
Girl Scouts Giving Back
The Girl Scout troop 20636 deserve an honorable mention this week, as they are sharing the love with COOKIES! The Lincoln Girl Scouts were able to deliver 15 cases (180 boxes) of cookies to the Lincoln County food bank and to the Lincoln County Sheriff ’s office through the Care and Share program.
Hamlet staged at Sterling College
“To be or not to be?” That is the question that has never been posed on the Sterling College Theatre stage. It comes from the “grandaddy” of all English drama – Shakespeare’s Hamlet, which will be staged on Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23 at 7:30 pm in Upper Wilson on the College campus.
