“ATV Cavalry” to the rescue

Scott Rathbun was injured in a 4-wheeler accident near his home Saturday, August 29. Rathbun and his eldest son Carter were out checking on cattle when the incident happened.

A heavy rain the night before made all roads leading to the scene of the accident impassable except by ATV. Rathbun’s wife and father tried to reach him, but both got stuck in the mud.

When the call went out, along with the information that the roads were impassable, emergency personnel came from all directions on ATVs. Grant Schroeder was the first to arrive, pulling in with Rob Obermueller’s side-by-side. Jeff Lyne hopped on his ATV in Lincoln and drove to the Rathbun farm, ten miles away. The area farmers arrived, bringing emergency personnel to the scene.
