Granzow addresses budget issues

Hospital CEO Steve Granzow addressed the budget issues the hospital is facing with the board of trustees at their regular meeting September 19.

Granzow told the board, simply, that the debt service requirements were not met for fiscal year 2018, which runs from April 1, 2018 through March 31, 2019. The shortfall was reported in the 2018 audit and as been a topic of conversation with the board, the county commissioners and on social media. As required in the contract between the hospital and the Public Building Commission, Granzow has contracted with Great Plains Health Care Alliance to see if current charges are in line in regard to medical records and will be implementing various cost-cutting measures, although Granzow said cost-cutting will be difficult at this point in time.

Granzow will confer with the doctors Cheema to review the efficiencies of both the Lincoln and Sylvan Grove clinics.
