Lincoln County receives first COVID vaccines
Lincoln County health care professionals began receiving the COVID-19 vaccine Dec. 18. Physicians and other “front-line” patient care professionals are the first to receive the two-dose vaccine. Urgency is being placed on protecting health care providers due to the critical nature of their patient care and their constant exposure to the virus. The Kansas State Nurses Association reports that nearly 400 nurses in the U.S. have died due to COVID-19, with many others infected or hospitalized.
Lincoln County Hospital received 25 doses of the vaccine for hospital and clinic staff, who were afforded the choice to opt out of vaccination.. Additional doses will be received by Lincoln Park Manor and the Lincoln County Health Department.
