Pies invites to house

Pi Day, March 14, took on a whole new meaning when well over 100 people attended the ribbon cutting and open house at MarCon Pies in Lincoln Saturday, March 14 at 3:14 p.m.

The wholesale bakery was open to the public for the first time. Coffee and samples of their many fruit pie flavors were offered for tasting, and for one day only, visitors were allowed to make purchases directly from the facility.

Supervisor Chelsea Meyer said the company is delivering 100-150 pies per day. Owner Craig Stertz said that number is increasing daily. Their goal is to deliver 300-350 fresh pies each day to businesses around the state.
