Products changing on the Lincoln Grocery shelves
Local shoppers may have noticed a few bare spots on the shelves at Lincoln Grocery, 123 S. 4th St., in the last week. This is only temporary as the 10,000 sq. ft. family-owned independent grocery store prepares to change warehouses from Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc (AWG), out of Kansas City, Kan., to Affiliated Foods, Inc., out of Amarillo, Texas.
Lincoln Grocery owner Kerry Smith hopes to offer more competitive prices to customers.
“One of the main reasons we switched to Affiliated [Foods] out of Amarillo is that they own their own production lines for milk and bread, and that means we can be more competitive on pricing,” Smith said. “Our main competitor is Dollar General, and it gives us an advantage to offset what they do.”
