School board approves baseball and wrestling for 20-21 academic year
At the regular meeting of the USD 298 board of education June 1, baseball coach Ryan Hageman and wrestling coach Nate Naasz made presentations to the board asking them to retain both programs. Each listed several reasons why they feel the programs are important and beneficial to the students.
“The Naasz family will commit to a donation of $1,000 every year to retain the program,” a passionate Naasz said, adding he wanted his son to have the same opportunities he had.
Hageman and Naasz had previously embarked on a fundraising effort to fund these sports.
During the discussion period of the meeting, the board discussed the possibilities of budget cutbacks, including these programs, citing low participation the last few years.
