Sisters make masks
When Governor Laura Kelly closed schools in Kansas due to COVID-19, area students needed to find a way to fill their newly found time while completing their school work on-line. Some found their part-time summer jobs earlier than normal. Some took the time to study on their own, prepare for college, or anything to stay busy. The Dubrinki girls of Sylvan Grove took a different approach to their extra time.
Maddie, Mallory and Laney Dubrinski, daughters of Mandy and Jerome Burger, and Morgan Dubrinski, wanted to do something to help family members who live outside Lincoln County in locations where the risk of COVD-19 was high. They chose making masks as their project, first for family members and others in their community they thought may need them, such as the cook staff and office personnel at their school and local employees of “essential” businesses.
With that mission fulfilled, the three sisters (there is a fourth – Stella Burger – who is too young to help) decided to offer their masks as donations to both those who worked in the medical field and first responders.
