Surface recycle and chip seal on K-18

In an Aug. 6 press release, Kansas Department of Transportation announced a surface recycle and chip seal project on K-18 to begin Aug. 8. Crews will be working the road from the Russell County line to the east city limits of Lincoln in Lincoln County. Construction will take place Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday work during daylight hours. Traffic will be reduced to one 15-foot lane following a pilot car through the work zone. Drivers should be prepared for a delay of up to 15 minutes and plan extra time in their travel schedules.

Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc. of Topeka is the prime contractor and anticipates this 20-mile project to be completed Oct. 11, weather permitting, at a cost of $1.4 million.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reminded travelers to drive safely around the road construction.
