Even with upcoming elections in mind, the COVID-19 virus is the leading news in the country. Many social media posts, internet articles and recommendations for staying healthy are confusing, and at times even conflicting. This virus has spread so quickly, updates change almost hourly, making it difficult to keep up with the latest information.
The Lincoln County Health Department has a Facebook page where County Public Health Officer Ladonna Reinert explains terminology that has been made common place by the existence of this virus, and the latest recommendations for Lincoln County. Reinert works closely with the Kansas Department of Health and Education, and LCHD’s medical advisor, Douglas County Health Officer Dr. Thomas Marcelino, MD, to bring the latest updates to citizens of Lincoln County,
What is social distancing?
A chart Reinert has posted on the health department’s Facebook page explains social distancing, and what it really means. Social distancing is the practice of reducing close contact between people to slow the spread of infections or disease. Measures include limiting large groups, closing buildings and canceling events.
