USD 298 approves LES storm shelter renovations

At the May 7 meeting, the USD 298 Board of Education approved elementary school locker room renovations to fortify the space as a safe storm shelter, with masonry and door improvements to be completed this summer. The board also approved a $0.10 increase on breakfast and lunch prices for the 2018-2019 school year, a softball coop agreement with Sylvan-Lucas, and the iDecide curriculum for the junior high students.

The meeting started with routine matters and an educational presentation from Mrs. Holeman’s Spanish students. They recorded audio for a Cinco de Mayo PowerPoint, each student taking a turn reading a little bit about the history and culture of the holiday in Spanish, while the English words were presented on screen for the board.
