USD 298 gathers information

Gabe Jonnson, LJSHS senior, made a presentation to the board of USD 298 Feb. 8 about his coding skills and software he has written for specific use. Jonnson said he has been writing code for about three years and is primarily self-taught. He demonstrated to the board how he could write music by coding, and in fact, has written a software package called Songwriter’s Studio to demonstrate that ability.

Jordan Webb, with Pathway Financial, was in attendance to present various options to the board for retirement packages based on a 403(b) program.

Superintendent Scott Crenshaw went over a list of costly improvements and repairs needed on the district’s grounds and buildings.

The track at Meaner Field has been found to have eight inches of asphalt in three distinct layers, directly on dirt. The estimate to redo the track is about $800,000. “That project is dead,” Crenshaw said.
