A new female Southern white rhino, Evey, has taken up residency in the Rhino Barn at Rolling Hills Zoo after making the move from The Wild Safari Park and Conservation Center at Cumberland, Ohio last week.

Chief Judge of the 12th Judicial District in Kansas since 2006, Kim Cudney, has been named one of three nominees to replace retired Justice Carol Beier on the Kansas Supreme Court. As District Court Judge, Cudney oversees six magistrate judges. The 12th Judicial District serves Cloud, Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Republic and Washington counties. All nominees are female, and this appointment will continue to have three female justices.
Historian and author Jeff Broome will be in Lincoln Friday, October 9 to discuss his latest book, “Indian Raids & Massacres, Essays on the Central Plains Indian War.” A lecture and book-signing event will be held at the Lincoln County Historical Museum, 216 W. Lincoln Avenue at 6;30 p.m. Social distancing and masks will be required. Broome has become an expert in Indian wars in relation to Lincoln County history. Previous books include “Dog Soldier Justice: The Ordeal of Susannah Alderdice”, and “Cheyenne War: Indian Raids on the Road to Denver 1864-1869”. Hours, weeks and years of research in Washington D.C. and through contact with descendants of those involved in these Indian wars culminated in the three books written by Broome, and a thorough understanding of the settlers throughout the central plains, including Lincoln county.
OCCK Transportation has announced KANcycle bikes, the regional bike sharing program that serves north central Kansas, is back up and running with bicycles ready to be rented. KANcycle has been closed since the end of March due to COVID19.
