When Dil Darjee decided he wanted to own a business, he took to the internet to see what was available. He knew he wanted to move his family from their home in St. George, Utah, with a population of more than 72,000 residents, to a small “village.” He found the Post Rock Motel listing, and visited Lincoln to see if this business was a contender.

Lincoln County COVID-19 update

On July 1, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment took the reported COVID-19 case off the Lincoln County report. The afflicted person had a permanent address of Lincoln County, but had not been in the county for several months and had no exposure to any Lincoln County residents.

Citizen’s State Bank donates to USD 298

Galen Liggett and Jim Metz, representing the Lincoln branch of Citizens State Bank & Trust Company, addressed the USD 298 board of education at their July 6 meeting to offer a $4,000 donation. While acknowledging the district can use the funds to meet their needs, the bank has requested it be used for academics, i.e. curriculum, textbooks, etc. The board gratefully accepted their donation and earmarked it for much needed textbooks.

When calculations were complete, California, New York and Texas will receive the largest distribution of all states. Kansas will receive a total of $1,250,000,000 in the first of three rounds of federal relief. Additionally, Johnson County will receive $116,311,034 directly from the federal government, and Sedgwick County will receive $99,636,917 as a direct federal distribution. A total of $400 million will be distributed to the local (county) governments.
