Amy Dahl, 96, of Salina, passed away Monday, October 21, 2019.
She was born February 28, 1923, in Lincoln, Kan., the daughter of Earl and Sarah Long. She was a 1941 graduate of Lincoln High School and later worked in Wichita, Kan., on the gliders that invaded Normandy during World War II. Amy married Finley Dahl in October 1945. He preceded her in death in July of 2002.
She was survived by her three children Bernie Dahl (Connie), Gypsum, Kan., Marsha Belleza (Ted), La-Selva Beach, Calif., and Sara Lynn Allan, Honolulu, Hawaii; sisters, Ruth German (Don), Phyllis Smith (Wilbur); brothers, Bob Long (Luella) and Ted Long (Geraldine). Amy enjoyed visiting with her 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Amy was a farmer’s wife for many years, owned her own hair salon and then worked at the Lincoln County Hospital as a nurses aide. She was curious about life and collected and examined nature to see its beauty. Amy liked to keep busy and was proficient in sewing, crochet, knitting and embroidery work. She was a good and loyal friend. Honoring her request, cremation is planned and a celebration of life in July 2020.
