Clayton D. Suelter

Clayton Dean Suelter, 69, of Lincoln Kan., passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019, in Salina. He was born October 6, 1950, in Salina, to Louis Paul and Ruby May (Willis) Suelter.

Clayton was drafted into the US Army in 1970 and served in Vietnam. During his time in the service he served as Junior Aide-de-Camp to Lieutenant General Michael Davison, II Field Force at Long Binh, Vietnam. He received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and was also a sharpshooter. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1976.

Clayton was an active and dedicated member of VFW Post #7928 for forty years, where he served in various offices, including Post Commander for four years. He was always ready and willing to participate as part of the color guard for funerals, parades, and other events.

Clayton was a farmer, and also worked for Suelter Service in Westfall, Century Manufacturing in Lincoln, and for the Department of Corrections in Ellsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth. He is survived by his brother Gary of Florence Kan. Also left to celebrate his life are numerous relatives and friends.

The service was held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 28, 2019, at St John Lutheran Church, Lincoln. Interment followed at St John Lutheran Cemetery with full military honors.
