Donald L. Wiebke, 65, of Lincoln, Kan., passed away, Oct. 2, 2016, at Salina Regional Hospital. He was born July 25, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo., to Elmer L. (Bill) and Goldie (Nelson) Wiebke. He lived on a farm in Lincoln, his entire life, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1969, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. He attended a semester at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served his country four years during the Viet Nam Era. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Lincoln to farm with his father, along with working for the Lincoln School District. Don loved sports. He followed local high school sports, as well as college and professional teams; but he especially loved watching and coaching his kids when they were in school. He followed them faithfully and with great pride as they became young adults. He spent a lot of time reading, watching the old westerns and documentaries about military history. He will be remembered for his teasing sense of humor. He loved living in Lincoln and enjoyed the people in the community. He was preceded in death by his father and an infant sister. Survivors include, wife, Jeanne Ann (Crawford) Wiebke, of the home; mother, Goldie Wiebke, of Lincoln; son, Shannon (Summer) Wiebke, of Wichita; daughter, Lacie (Willie) Faison, of Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Carol (Larry) Courtney, of Basehor, Kan.; grandchildren, Gage and Bailey Bange, Levi Wiebke, and Tatum Faison. Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Hall Chapel, Lincoln, interment followed in Lincoln City Cemetery.
