Nancy Jeane Schroeder

Nancy Jeane Schroeder, 70, of McPherson, Kan., passed away suddenly at 9 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2019, at her home.

Nancy was born in Lacrosse, Wisc., on April 8, 1949, a daughter of Esther Marion (Waite) and Edward Gerald Fogarty, Sr.

Nancy attended St. Anthony’s grade school and graduated from Bishop Ward High School, Kansas City, Kan., in 1967. Later in life she attended the Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, Kan., where she received her CMA. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, where she was a member of the Altar Society. Nancy was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked as a CMA for Cedars Health Care Center and Heartland Haven. Nancy was a member of the Sorority Sisters (HWIB). Nancy enjoyed her grand kids, sewing, was an excellent cook and baker. She loved to have all her grand kids help in the kitchen and teaching them her secrets.

Nancy Jeane Fogarty was united in marriage to Lonnie Dale Schroeder on January 31, 1970, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kan. The young couple established their first home together in Millington, Tenn. The couple then moved to Lexington Park, Md., for a couple years before moving to Manhattan, Kan., for three years before moving to McPherson in January of 1976.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Lonnie Schroeder, of McPherson; her children, Neil Schroeder and wife Emelie, of McPherson, Courtney Schroeder and husband Paul, of Kansas City, Kan., Ericka Schroeder and husband Jeremy, of McPherson, Grant Schroeder and wife Jessie, of Barnard, Kan., Troy Schroeder and wife Leah, of Canton, Kan., Noah Schroeder, of McPherson, Lorra Martens and husband Jim of Inman, Kan.,; her siblings, Marie Hamil, of Shawnee, Kan., Edward Fogarty, Jr. and wife Kathleen, of Olathe, Kan., Angela Blazevic and husband Ronald, of Kansas City, Kan., William Fogarty and wife Peggy, of Leavenworth, Kan., Peter Fogarty and wife Victoria, of Marceline, Mo., Cecilia Fogarty, of Falls Church, Va., Mabel Cubbage, of Oskaloosa, Kan. and Michael Fogarty, of Kansas City, Kan.; her 8 grandchildren, Paige Jackson and husband Jeremiah, Simon Cheatham, Savannah Schroeder, Madelyn Schroeder, Hunter Schroeder, Kloey Schroeder, Jace Schroeder and Alex Schroeder; 1 great-grandson on the way, due in August; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.

Rosary will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019 with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. the same day at the Beverly Cemetery in Beverly, Kan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic School, or the Morrison House of Salina and they can be sent to Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 West Euclid St., McPherson, KS 67460.
