Robert Capper Lyster

Robert Capper Lyster, 75, Highlands Ranch, Colo., passed away on Aug. 2, 2016 at Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, Colo. He was born Oct. 12, 1940 in Lincoln, Kan., to Herbert Eugene and Theora Opal Capper. Barney grew up in Lincoln where his father and mother owned a Phillips 66 Petroleum Jobber ship. He attended Lincoln Grade and Lincoln High School. He was the president of his Senior Class of 1958, a member of the Masonic Lodge and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Barney attended college at Kansas University and Emporia State Teacher’s College, now Emporia State University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting. After graduation Barney enlisted in the US Air Force in 1963 and attended Officer’s Training School in San Antonio, Texas where he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. He was stationed at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, N.M., where he was a SAC Navigator on B52s during the Viet Nam era. Upon leaving the Air Force, Barney and his family settled in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he was an accountant. He retired in Denver, Colo. He married Judy Maybelle Donley on Oct. 27, 1963 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. He is survived by his wife Judy; two sons, Monte Lyster of Parker, Colo., and Kirk Lyster of Brawley, Calif.; three granddaughters, Sydney Marie Lyster of Phoenix, Ariz., Taylor Marie Lyster of Brawley, Calif., and Tylor Marie Lyster of Brawley, Calif.; five sisters-in-law, Geraldine Lyster of Phoenix, Ariz., Michele Lyster of Nice, France, Ardith Von Fange of Lincoln, Kan., Joyce Donley of San Diego, Calif., and Virginia Donley, Beverly, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Robert in death are his parents and two brothers, Richard Herbert Lyster and Roger Capper Lyster, twin brother of Robert. A memorial service was held Aug. 13, 2016 at Pinnacle at City Park South in Denver, Colo. Dr. Harvey Martz officiated.
