Sheila Ann (Evan) Marts

Sheila Ann (Evan) Marts

Sheila Ann (Evans) Marts was received by our Lord on December 11, 2020.

Sheila was born on December 17, 1940 to Stanely M. Evans and Mary E. (Steedman) Evans, in Keyser, W. Va. She was her parents early Christmas gift that year! Sheila was the third child of six siblings; three boys and three girls. Her entire growing youth was in Keyser, where she attended Fountain Grade School and Keyser High School, the home of the Golden Tornadoes, (got to love those names Fountain/ Golden). After graduation in 1958, she attended and graduated in 1962 from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Cumberlad, Md.

Her long career in nursing consisted of; University Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. (`62), Asbury Hospital, Salina, Kan. (`65), Catonsville Hospital, Catonsville, Md. (`72) and Shawnee Mission Adventist Hospital, Shawnee Mission, Kan. (`75). During this time, her main focus and desire was to work in the area of pediatrics. She always maintained that children were always appreciative of and complied with the nursing care they were given. Of couse she loved those babies! She formally retired from Shawnee Mission Adventist Hospital in 2006 after 44 years of a nursing career. However, due to her love of nursing, she continued to work in nursing part time until 2011! At that time, the grandbabies were calling her! During her long career, she met and befriended a host of people to include her nursing associates and her neighbors. Foremost, she was a loving mother, wife, caring daughter, sister and nurse. She will be greatly missed by all.

While working at Asbury, she met and married Ronald W. Marts on March 4, 1967. This meeeting was pre-ordainded by God, as noted from their ages being in the upper 20’s! At this time she was working in the Pediatrics dept, while I was just down the hall, working in the nuclear medicine and x-ray dept. Ironically we had a common coffee break area on our floor, hence My thought of bachelor hood melted and; the Wedding Bells rang! To this union three children were born: Ronald W. II, Jennifer L. and Kjersten L. (Marts) Dennis.

Survivors include: son-in-law Chad Dennis; sisters Frances (Evans) von Hagel and Sharon (Evans) and husband Edward Orndorff; brothers Melvin and Judy Evans and Richard and Aileen Evans; and brother and sister-in-law Gary and Karen Marts. Six grandchildren; Charles Dennis, Caroline Dennis, Charlotte Dennis, Ronald Marts III, Aeraly Marts, Emma Marts. In addition, numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and one great-great nephew. She was preceeded in death by her parents, one brother Frank and her sister in law, Barbara (Marts) Meyer.
