Flood damage reduction in action
Ever stop and wonder why some areas of the state receive less flood damage than others? The answer lies in flood retarding dams. Call any business or resident in Manhattan, Junction City, and Lawrence and they will immediately turn their attention to what Tuttle Creek, Milford, and Clinton respective Federal Corps of Engineers dams do for them. Each of those areas also has concerns with flooding from the Kansas River that receives the outflow from those and other Federal dams.
Notwithstanding the protection provided by Federal dams, where else do communities receive flood reduction benefits?
