Friends of a feather

While in Wichita recently, I had lunch with a girlfriend from high school. I love it that I still have friends from that long ago, and I love it even more that when we sit down together it is almost like time has never passed. Almost.

It was happenstance that we both planned to be in town at the same time. She lives in Phoenix and comes back to visit her family a couple of times a year. My granddaughter had a birthday. Boom! There we were in the same place at the same time.

She’s the best at getting the old gang together. She typically arranges for all of us to meet at a nice restaurant/bar where we engage in catching up and enjoying way too many adult beverages. I wasn’t able to make the reunion this time, but we did have a chance for a long leisurely lunch a few days later, the first time in decades we spent time together without the rowdiness of the old gang of boys and girls we basically grew up with. (I know that isn’t grammatically correct, but I’m just telling a story here.)
