Lincoln County population projections

Lincoln County population projections

By Cindy Nelson, Lincoln County Representative, Kansas Silver Haired Legislature

Practically everyone has heard of the population shifts taking place in Kansas. Growing urban areas and shrinking rural areas are underway. In 2016, Wichita State University Center for Economic Development and Business Research released a detailed Kansas population projection in five-years increments for 2014 through 2064. There is a tremendous amount of information on their website. I encourage you to look at it if you are interested, www.cedbr.org.As the Lincoln County representative on the Kansas Silver Haired Legislature, I am most interested in the 2019 through 2039 (twenty years) time period. This period allows us to see what is projected to happen in the near future. Looking at this population shift will give policy-makers, businesses and citizens information to make adjustments to their strategies in legislation and funding.
