Lost and all alone

Lost or abandoned dogs appear all summer long. We see them in our neighborhoods, we see them on the highways and we see them in the city dog shelter. Lincoln Area Humane Society has found rescues or shelters for 38 of these frightened and hungry dogs since our group began. This year alone we have helped 12 dogs find safe and compassionate care.

Most of the dogs are picked up by Lincoln County Sheriff deputies. They are then taken to the Lincoln City Pound. The city workers do a wonderful job of feeding and taking care of them. They are required to stay ten days and during that time our Humane Society starts contacting rescue groups and humane societies with shelters. We find a place that can give them medical attention and vaccinations, show them love and kindness, and eventually find them a “wonderful forever home.”
