Remember your pets when the temperature drops

PAW PALS

The weather has definitely been cold this winter. I am so thankful when I don’t have to spend a lot of time outside. I have a nice warm house, warm clothes and a warm place to sleep. I do think about those who have to work outside and are exposed to the cold. They are certainly deserving of our thoughts and prayers this time of year.

Many animals are exposed to the cold, but the ones I would like to talk about are our best friends, our dogs. Many dogs are considered outside dogs and spend their lives outside. We tend to assume that dogs handle low temperatures well since they are covered with fur. Actually, dogs also can feel cold and although the fur does offer some protection, for some breeds that is not enough. There are dogs that are bred to live in cold regions, but others are affected by low temperatures.
