Wheat stubble weed management
Now that the 2020 wheat harvest is almost completed, especially with the moisture that we have received from “mother-nature”, weed pressure in the wheat stubble is increasing rapidly!
Post-harvest weed control in wheat stubble is very important to conserve soil moisture and prevent weeds from going to seed and adding to the weed seedbank according to Dr. Sarah Lancaster, K-State Research and Extension Weed Scientist. Weeds are growing quickly, especially with the thin wheat stands. Controlling these weeds while there is moisture and active growth, before they set seed, is a good idea!
