NPL basketball tournament incident under investigation

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and Kansas Bureau of Investigation are conducting an investigation involving an accusation that “covert video” was recorded in a bathroom at the Lincoln Elementary School on Jan. 15 during the Northern Plains League basketball tournament. According to KBI, a juvenile suspect has been identified, but no arrests have been made at this time.

USD 298 Superintendent Kathy Robertson issued a statement to the school district and community on Jan. 30, stating a student discovered the device and turned it into administration.

“[The cell phone] did not belong to any of the students of Lincoln Public Schools, nor were any Lincoln students involved,” Robertson said in the statement.
