Sylvan-Lucas ends football season at Osborne
OSBORNE — The Sylvan-Lucas High School football team ended its season on Friday with a 40-6 loss to undefeated Osborne.
The Mustangs began the year 2-3 before winning four straight games, including last week’s playoff win over Triplains-Brewster. However, for the second time this season, the Mustangs were defeated by Osborne.
The first half was competitive, as Sylvan-Lucas trailed 8-0 after the first quarter and 16-6 at halftime. But the Bulldogs scored 24 unanswered in the second half - 16 in the third quarter - to improve to 10-0.
“First half we moved the ball well and did what we wanted to do, but struggled to score once we got inside the 10,” Sylvan-Lucas head coach Benjamin Labertew said. “In the second half, we got kind of banged up, and also had some penalties get us out of a rhythm offensively.”
