Leopards’ season comes to a close

Leopards’ season comes to a close

The 2022 football season has finally come to an end. The Leopards didn’t get the outcome they had hoped for in their district playoff game Thursday night against the Rawlins County Buffaloes, but we are so proud of each and every one of them. The boys started out rocky this season. Despite losing players to injuries and illnesses or other school activities, they continued to play hard and with their record of 3-5, got themselves to a playoff game. The boys played with heart, courage, and with love for each of their teammates. To the Seniors, Noah Esposito, Blake Knight, Jaxson Romesburg, Trey Simms, Ethan Suelter and Dominic Nye, High School football will be memories that will stay with you forever! No matter what differences you had before football, once you put on those pads and that helmet, and walk out on the field, you became brothers. You formed a bond that not many people get to experience. You respected each other knowing everyone is working towards the same goal. Win or lose you gained a new family that you will never forget. We wish all of you the best of luck during the rest of your Senior year and in your bright futures!! We have loved watching every minute of you all hitting, tackling, blocking, running the ball, getting touchdowns, laughing, cheering for each other, and even the tears at the end. Thank you for everything you gave to Lincoln Football. Thank you for all your hard work and sacrifices. We will really miss all of you next year!!

Late score propels Sylvan-Lucas past St. Francis

SYLVAN GROVE-Lane Homewood’s 27-yard touchdown run gave Sylvan- Lucas the lead and a late interception preserved it as the Mustangs held off St. Francis 30-22 in the first round of the 8-Man Division ll Playoffs at rain-soaked Weatherman Field. The scoring in Thursday evening’s contest began when Homewood rushed for a five-yard touchdown to complete a 12-play, 65yard drive and the successful conversion made the score 8-0 after the first quarter. Homewood found the end zone again early in the second stanza from eight yards out and the lead grew to 16-0 after the two-point conversion concluded the seven-play, 38-yard drive. The Mustangs had two chances to extend the lead before halftime but Homewood was intercepted to end one drive and Valden Dohl was ruled out of bounds on a play that would have been a touchdown and the Mustangs settled for the 16-0 advantage.

Leopards Fall to Cardinals

The Lincoln Leopards (3-4) faced off against the El-Saline Cardinals (5-2). Having already secured a post-season berth, the Leopards were still playing for a potential home playoff game. If they could beat the Cardinals, the Leopards would host their first home playoff game in more than a decade.
