Carol Ruth Myers-Thomas

July 9, 1950 - May 10, 2022

Its with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Ruth Myers-Thomas on May 10, 2022. Carol was born on July 9, 1950 in Salina, KS to Seth and Helen Myers. Her childhood was spent on the farm at Barnard, KS, where she graduated from Lincoln High School. During that time, she formed relationships with people and animals alike. One of her first animal friends was a rooster. They built what they thought was a lasting bond until one day the family ate the rooster. Carol also participated in 4H where she raised a cow who sadly was also eaten after showing. She stopped befriending meaty edibles after the loss of the second friend.

Carol had a kind personality and a huge heart. She loved deeply and was deeply loved by those who knew her. Her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. Carol loved hosting her grandchildren at the farm where she would take them for rides on a John Deere Gator and cook “Grandma Steak” and Tuna Noodle Casserole. The farm was always full of love and memories while we were visiting.

Carol lived in many states during her life where she made friends and touched many lives. These states included: Kansas, Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Florida, and Arkansas. She moved back to the farm to be a care giver to her mother. Her light dropped below the horizon the same place where it rose seventy-one years before.

Carol is survived by her mother, Helen Myers, her sister Mari Myers, her brother Dean Myers, her sons Chris Ward, Todd Johnson, and his wife Nathalie & their 4 children, and her daughter Kelli Baker and her husband Derek & their 2 children.

Please join us in celebrating her life on August 13th at 10:30 at the Barnard Methodist Church.
