Chad B. Stec

Chad Brandon Stec (44) was born on June 17, 1977 in Lexington, Neb. and died of complications from a severe infection at his home in Bassett, Neb. on July 26, 2021.

Chad was the second child born to Richard John Stec and Susan Kay (Coleman) Stec Brewer. He began school in Lexington, Neb. and completed his education in the Cozad City Schools, graduating with the class of 1996.

Chad worked in feedlots, as a welder, as a well-driller, and was excellent with mechanical skills. He worked at Leon’s Hardware in Bassett and provided quality customer service for many years. In conversations with his mother, she learned that he was always willing to try something new, and would do jobs others would back away from. Chad was an avid reader, and had a wealth of knowledge on topics ranging from science to history.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard John Stec; infant sister Angelina Kay Stec; maternal grandparents, Edwin Junior Coleman and Theda May (Kepler) Coleman Shannon; paternal grandfather, Teofil John Stec.

He leaves to celebrate his memory, his mother, Susan Kay (Don) Brewer of Sylvan Grove, Kan.; brothers, Ryan Richard (Jessica) Stec of Morrill, Neb., Wade Tyson Stec of Lincoln, Neb.; sister, Amanda Kay Stec, of Salina, Kan.; half-sister, Jaida Eastman of Giltner, Neb.; and his grandmother, Helen Stec, Bassett, Neb..

Other relatives include his aunt, Jeanne Stec of Crete, Neb., uncle, Roger Stec of Bassett, Neb., Gary (Lillian) Coleman of Chandler, Texas, Nancy Ward of Kingman, Ariz., Sally (Wayne) Carpenter of Ainsworth, Neb.; nephews, Cameron Stec of Sylvan Grove, Kan., Casey Sigle of Sylvan Grove, Kan., and Tripton Stec of Morrill, Neb.; nieces, Caitlyn Sigle of Sylvan Grove, Kan., and Gentry Stec of Morrill, Neb. Cousins include; Scott and John Rieker, Sadie and Tanner Stec, Denise Walker, Brian Coleman, Janel Mahe, Cherie Dinkle, Christopher Finch, Paul Carpenter, Travis Carpenter, Joel Carpenter, Leslie Carpenter, Rachel Jones, and Naomi Carpenter.

He will be missed by his “second family,” Stan and Deb Weidner, Garret and Rachel Weidner, Rylan and Camden Weidner all of Bassett, NE.

Graveside Memorial Services were held on Saturday, July31, 2021 in the Grandview Cemetery in Long Pine, Neb. with Father Mike Wetovick officiating at the service. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Memorials may be made to Susan Brewer and mailed to 362 E. Oak Dr., Sylvan Grove, KS 67481.
