Connie Ranee Meitler, 48 years old, passed away October 2, 2023 at Reeds Cove Rehabilitation Center in Wichita, KS. Connie was born July 9, 1975 to Keith and Barbara (Wenthe) Meitler in Lincoln, KS. Connie was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sylvan Grove, KS. and graduated from Sylvan Unified in 1993. She attended Hutchinson Junior College, Hutchinson, KS where she was a member of the women’s basketball team and threw javelin for the track team, where she earned All American honors. She worked several jobs, including the last 12 ½ years for FedEx, a job she thoroughly enjoyed with people she valued and appreciated, until her illness in 2021.
Known for her kindness, helpfulness and empathetic nature, Connie had a special place in her heart for the underdog and was quick to help anyone in need. Her easygoing personality helped her make many friends who were drawn to her quick wit and gregarious sense of humor. She could make anyone smile and enjoyed making others laugh, which she often did.
Connie had a true zest for life. Even while bravely battling brain cancer for over two years. She remained positive with an engaging smile and humor to share. She loved her dogs Rooney and Lucky and was an avid fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Royals. Connie, who always seemed to have a smile on her face, enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, while also supporting her many nieces and nephews. She is remembered as an extremely hardworking individual and a loyal, thoughtful friend who enjoyed hanging out. To her family she is remembered as a cherished partner, devoted daughter, loving sister, and fun-loving aunt.
Connie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl & Lillie (Reese) Meitler, Henry & Ella (Haesemeyer) Wenthe, father Keith Meitler, and niece Tasha Meitler.
Connie is survived by Barbara (Wenthe) Meitler, Mollie Lane, Brian and (Shonda) Meitler, Roger (Shannon) Meitler, Cheryl (Dell) Gier, Carol (Bobby Sr.) Trapp, Jennifer Meitler (Tracy), Warren Meitler (Stacie), 11 nieces and nephews, 18 great nieces and great nephews, and countless cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Sylvan Grove, Kansas.
