Doris Marie Gallion

March 2, 1952 - Juky 16, 2022

Doris Marie (Moore) Gallion was born on August 9, 1930 in Hunter, Kansas to Forrest and Beulah (Baird) Moore of Hunter, Kansas. She departed this life peacefully on Saturday, July 16 at Pinnacle Park in Salina, Kansas at the age of 91 years. Doris attended school in Hunter and graduated in 1948. She began teaching in Ash Grove after graduation. She was a baptized member of the Hunter United Methodist Church. She married Gale Edward Gallion on March 2, 1952. To this union, three children were born: Brenda, Kirk, and JD. Sadly, Doris lost her beloved Gale on June 12, 1959. Once her children were in school, Doris worked at the post office in Hunter while taking night classes and summer school from Marymount College in Salina. She graduated with a BS in elementary education in 1968. She began teaching in Lincoln, Kansas the following year. In 1978, she began teaching 2nd grade at USD 299 in Sylvan Unified. She later would teach Language Arts for the school district. She retired from Sylvan in 1993. Doris was a member of the Hunter United Methodist Church, the Hunter ladies auxiliary and the Bluebirds. She was a 4-H cooking leader. Doris (Dode) loved dancing, movies, and baking. But her pride and joys were her grandchildren! Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Gale, her parents, Frosty and Beryl, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orval and Inez Gallion, her brothers, Jerry Moore and Don Moore, sisters-in-law Eldora Seehafer and Wanda Moore, brother-in-law, Melvin Seehafer and granddaughter, Ginny Frederking. She will be forever lovingly remembered by her daughter, Brenda (Alex) Andresen, Salina, Kansas; sons Kirk (Pam) Gallion, Mahaska, Kansas; and JD Gallion, Winifred, Kansas, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, sister, Ivahmae Auld, many nieces and nephews, numerous relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held on August 9, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hunter Methodist Church. Inurnment in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hunter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be used in Doris’s name and sent in care of Ryan Mortuary.
