Jerry C. Hollis

Jerry Clark Hollis, 77, of Lincoln, Kan. passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021, surrounded by family. Jerry was born May 22, 1944, in Lincoln, Kan. to Dorothea (Eslinger) and Leander Hollis.

He graduated from Hunter Rural High School in 1962. After graduation, Jerry served in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1965.

On April 22, 1966, Jerry married Barbara Rippie in Sylvan Grove at the Presbyterian Church and to this union had a daughter, Sandy Turner and a son, Gary Hollis.

Jerry was employed by Quartzite Stone Company for many years and then went to KDOT in 1988 where he retired in 2007.

Jerry loved riding his motorcycle and he and Barb took many trips on the motorcycle across the United States.

Jerry was also an avid hunter and passed along the love of deer hunting to his children, his son-in-law hunting buddy, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.

Jerry loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and always had a good excuse to go to Topeka to see them and have a Sunday morning breakfast with all of them. He also loved when the grandkids and great grandkids would come to Lincoln to visit Grandma and Grandpa and enjoy Lincoln, sometimes for the entire summer.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; their two children, Sandy and her husband Ken, and Gary all of Topeka; six grandchildren, Andrew (Hannah), Jessica, Brandon, Tara, Lauren and Taleah; and seven great grandchildren, Karson, Shamus, Loreto, Carina, John, Finley amd Katherine. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is from 1:00- 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021, with family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Hall Chapel, Lincoln.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Hall Chapel. Interment will be at a later date.
