Lynn Marie Jewell Banta

Lynn Marie Jewell Banta

Oct. 5, 1961 - Nov. 21, 2022

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Lynn Marie Jewell Banta, of Wichita, KS, age 61, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, family member, and friend, passed on to her heavenly home, early on Monday, November 21st, 2023, of complications from open heart surgery at the Houston Methodist Hospital, Houston, TX. Lynn was born October 5, 1961, in Portsmouth, VA, the daughter of Everett G. Jewell, currently of Wichita, KS, and Mary Jo (Stidham) Jewell White, of Lincoln, KS.

Lynn moved many times throughout the US with her family until they settled in Kansas. She graduated high school in Lincoln and attended Wichita State in Wichita, where she finally made a permanent home. It was at a young age Lynn found her precious Lord and Savior, remaining in his light the rest of her days. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Wesley Hospital, a Unit Clerk at St. Joseph Hospital and a receptionist for Dr. Hassan, Neurologist, before she went into home health care. For the last 7 years, she was a proud remote customer service agent for Amazon.

Early on, Lynn would tell you all she wanted to be was a wife and mother. She met her husband, Scott Randall Banta, at church and was married in Wichita on January 27, 1990. They lived together for 32 years and were blessed with three children, Isaac, Rachel and Gnome, who were the light of their lives. If you ask anyone who knew Lynn to tell you about her, they will say that she was a giver. She was always giving and caring for others. She was so loved by her children’s friends, Nathaniel, Levi and Kylie, they even called her mom and Lynn treated Levi and Kylie’s son, Finn, as her own grandson. She loved spending time with her little sister and brother in NC, Eboni and EJ and visiting her sister, Debi, all over the country. Lynn had a special bond with her own mom, Mary Jo, who visited the Banta family often. Lynn was full of life, she never let anything stop her from enjoying it. Everyone who knew her says she was beautiful, sweet spirit and she was a good friend to many. Lynn loved to sing and she could often be found singing special hymns in church. She is already painfully missed.
