Mary Alice Branson was born in Burden, Kansas on June 8th of 1932. Born to De and Alice Branson, she was their only daughter, and one of three children, her brothers being Linc and Robert, both of who have proceeded her in death. As a senior in high school she unexpectedly lost her Father due to a heart attack, it was one of the greatest trials of her youth. Upon graduating High School, she attended Southwestern College in Winfield, KS where she obtained her teaching certificate. After graduating from Southwestern she went on to teach in Johnson City, Kansas where she met her loving husband, Robert Garrison. They were married in June of 1953. After Mothering three sons, Mark, Craig, and Kent - Mary would later return to college to earn her teaching degree from Southwestern College. She continued her education at Kansas State University where she obtained her Master’s degree in primary education. She was a renowned and beloved teacher and colleague. After over 38 years of teaching (primarily 1st grade) she retired. She touched the lives of the countless students she taught, having taught in Johnson City, Augusta, Beloit, Beverly, and Lincoln.

In August of 2015 she moved into the Saint Mary’s Manor where she brought, joy, conversation and fashion to the many residents and friends she would make over the next seven years. Undoubtedly one of her greatest joys was always her family, who she loved dearly. She was a devoted wife for over 50 years and a loving Mother all her life. She is survived by her sons Mark, Craig, and Kent (Amy), 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Requiem Mass will be at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Assumption Chapel In St. Marys. Interment will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, Kansas. A rosary will be recited at 5:20 P.M. Friday, September 30, 2022, at the church. A visitation will be from 2:00-4:00P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

There will be a reception following the graveside serves at the Finch Theatre, 122 Lincoln Ave, Lincoln, Kansas 67455, all are welcome.
