Norman Howard Bird

December 22, 1933 ~ January 12, 2022

Norman Howard Bird, a loving dad, brother, and uncle died Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Born to Howard and Ruby Bird, in Lincoln Kansas on December 22, 1933. Norman attended Barnard High School and was a member of the ROTC. Shortly after graduating high school Norman was called up by the US Navy and served in Panama. He spent a few years teaching school in Kansas City and lived for ahile in Oregon.

At one time Norman owned a grocery store in Salina, Kansas and in his later life ran an antique store in Lincoln, Kansas. He was a collector of many things and an expert on most everything. Norman was the first collector of shotgun shell boxes in Kansas and spent many hours attending gun and collectable shows. He loved to fish, hunt and search for antiques.

Norman had two children, Debbie and Mark Bird. Mark and his wife, Kim, live in Salina, Kansas and were a joy for Norman. Mark and Norman spent many hours hunting and enjoying life.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Revonda Blanding and niece Judy Kay Bird. He is survived by son Mark Bird, his wife Kim, granddog Auggie and their family, brother Galen and wife Linda Bird of St. Louis, MO, and their son Brian Bird and his family, brother-in-law Don Blanding, of Oklahoma City and his daughters Tami Wheeler, Amy Love, Dawna Blanding and Krista Jones and their families. He will be missed.

Graveside services will be held March 5, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Lincoln cemetery.
