Richard Walter Peterson

Richard Walter Peterson, 98, passed away January 30, 2022 in Lincoln, KS. He was born May 13, 1923 in the Denmark area of Lincoln County to Walter and Mabel (Knudsen) Peterson.

Richard married Ruth Pierce in Hays, KS in 1963. The couple welcomed a child together: daughter, Tawnya. Richard also adopted Ruth’s son, Gary and had a stepson, Larry Gott. After Ruth’s passing in 1991, Richard married Brenda Karstensen Dohe in Denmark, KS on November 25, 2000. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran and lifetime member of the Lincoln VFW. He was also an active member of the Denmark Lutheran Church and former Sylvan Unified board member.

Richard is survived by his wife, Brenda of Lincoln; daughter, Tawnya (J.H.) Seitz of Denmark; grandchildren, Alexandrea, Victoria, and Nicholas Feldkamp; step-sons, Brian (formerly married to Lori), David (Tina), and Roland (Jonelle) Dohe and Larry Gott; and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Peterson; son, Gary Peterson; brother, Kenneth Peterson; and sister, Kathryn Hall.

Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Hall Chapel, Lincoln with burial following in the Denmark Cemetery.
