Robert D. “Bob” Crangle, Sr., born May 5, 1943 in Putnam, CT, died at his home on December 13, 2023.

His parents, Dale E. and Libucke “Libbie” S. (Krepela) Crangle of Mankato, KS, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Jeanne Crangle (Rose) of the home; his sister Linda of Mankato, KS; mother-in-law Wanda Rose of Lincoln, KS; and seven children born to Bob and Jeanne, Rob of Leesburg, VA, Elenor (Jon) of Lawrence, KS, Kimball (Tim) of Steamboat Springs, CO, Susan (Serhiy) of Monongahela, PA, Sara (Chris) of Lawrence, KS, Paul (Andrea) of Kansas City, MO, and Hally of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Grace and Ella Crangle, Gage (Caroline) and Ben Buffington, August, Hattie, and Arthur Hoppin, Sofia, Viktoria, and Anya Vdovichenko, and Patrick and Finnegan Hogg.

Bob’s father was a topographic engineer. They lived as a family in 20 states before Bob graduated from high school in Rolla, MO in 1961. From there, he earned a nuclear engineering degree from Kansas State University, a law degree from Harvard Law School, and was an Eagle Scout. He worked as a consultant and university professor before joining Dan Metz in practicing law in Lincoln, KS. He later served as the Lincoln County Attorney and practiced law independently.

He humored his wife and took a beginner’s art class in 2005 at the Lincoln Art Center. He painted regularly for the rest of his life, finishing scores of oil and pastel paintings--landscapes, abstracts and what he called dreamscapes.

A visitation will be held 1-7 p.m., Monday, December 18, 2023 at Hall Chapel, Lincoln, KS. Family will be present 4-7 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.
