Rockwell Nathan Greene

Rockwell Nathan Greene passed away October 25, 2021 in hospice care in Kansas City, Mo.

Nathan was born September 10, 1936 in Lincoln, Kan. to Rockwell and Madge Greene. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1954 and Kansas State College in 1959 with BS degree in Chemistry and a 2nd Lt. commission in USAF thru AFROTC. During his flight training at Malden AFB, Mo. he met and married his wife, Ellen. After several locations in U.S. they were assigned to Turkey until 1962 when he returned to Mobile, Ala., where one of his duties was to fly helicopter cover for the Martin Luther King march to Selma, Ala. He reported to Viet Nam in 1965 where he joined helicopter rescue detachment and he received two air medals and two Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for his rescue missions. After his tour he returned to the U.S. and was a pilot for TWA until his retirement 1992.

He enjoyed life in California with his wife until her death in 2012. He remained in California until he moved to Kansas City in 2017 where he lived in Memory Care until his death.

He is survived by his son Rockwell Noel Greene and wife Rosalie, and eight grandchildren of St Paul, Minn.; a sister, Sue Kurzdorfer of Kansas City, one nephew, two nieces, and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 13, 2021 at Grissom San Lorenzo Mortuary 32053 W. McCabe Rd. San Joaquin, Calif.

Internment will follow at the San Joaquin National Cemetery.
