Thema Smith

Thelma Dimick Smith, 108, of Lincoln, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Ellsworth County Medical Center. Thelma was born on January 25, 1913 in Westfall, to George and Mary Dimick. She attended Keystone School until the 8th grade and then stayed at home until she was married. On April 15, 1933, she married Keith Smith in Lincoln, Kan. They had two sons, Frank Ardell Smith and Stephen Nicholas Smith.

Thelma and Keith lived in Westfall and raised their two sons. They owned a farm and raised and sold cattle. In their retirement they moved to Salina and lived there until Keith passed in 2001. In 2011, at age 100, Thelma moved to Lincoln Park Manor and lived there until her death.

Thelma enjoyed many things throughout her 108 years. She was a good seamstress and sewed drapes for many years. She loved going to auctions and finding collectibles and bargains. She enjoyed painting ceramics and even had her own kiln. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had books, cats, t.v. shows and many political opinions to keep her busy! She was a wonderful cook and is known for her homemade noodles and pies.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Smith and her son, Ardell Smith.

Survivors include her son, Stephen Smith and his wife Carolyn of Basehor, Kan.; the wife of Ardell Smith, Kathy Smith of Kerrville, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held August 30, 2021 at Parsons Funeral Home – Hall Chapel, Lincoln and burial followed at Beverly Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Lincoln Park Manor, c/o, Hall Chapel, PO Box 37, Lincoln, KS 67455.
