City identifies three nuisance properties

The Lincoln City Council identified three nuisance properties on Lincoln Avenue during their regular September 9 meeting. These properties are 126 W. Lincoln Ave., known as the “old bakery;” 132 W. Lincoln Ave., known as the “old bar;” and 136 W. Lincoln Ave., the former home of M&B Plumbing which was heavily damaged by a fire several years ago. Resolution numbers 19-07, 19-08 and 19-09, authorizing notification to the owners of each property that legal action will be pursued were approved and signed by council members.

City Attorney Dan Metz said the property owners are given an opportunity to address the condition of their properties and make necessary repairs.

“Repairs are probably impossible due to the conditions of these properties,” Metz said, adding that the buildings, at least two of them, have party walls, meaning they share a wall. If property owners are not able to resolve the situation, the properties will be condemned, and the city will have the option to raze each of these buildings.
