Lincoln UMC celebrates 150 years

The Methodist church in Lincoln county has been in existence for as long as the county has been a county. The year 1870 was a busy one in Lincoln county. Citizens were still reeling from the 1869 incursion by the Dog Soldiers from several tribes, the town of Lincoln Center was established, though not incorporated until 1879, and a “new” Christian denomination found its way into the hearts of the county.

Covid-19 update on Delta variant

There has been much publicity about the relatively new variant of the coronavirus that interrupted the lives of people all over the world last year - the Delta variant. The increase in the number of delta infections and a simultaneous rise in cases of respiratory syncytial virus, also known as RSV, reported across the country, has health officials concerned. Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, among others, have recorded an increase in both coronavirus and RSV hospitalizations in children.

Lincoln County Livestock Judging Event

Over 40 area 4-Hers participated in the Lincoln County Livestock Judging event at the fair this year. The participants judged 4 classes of animals including market hogs, market steers, market goats and breeding ewes and gave one set of reasons. Taylor Ohlde was the official and also talked about each class after the judging concluded. The kids learned about what a desirable market animal looks like as well as good characteristics for a breeding animal. They also practiced giving a set of reasons, or a short speech about their placing on the class of market hogs. Winners in the senior division were: 1st place- Sydney Heller, 2nd place- Vance Dohl, 3rd place- Wayne Elder. Winners in the junior division were: 1st place- Benjamin Bell, 2nd place- Alison Rosebrook, 3rd place- Titus Bell. US Tower to close its Lincoln location after 20 years

US Tower to close its Lincoln location after 20 years

US Tower announced last week the Lincoln facility is closing, leaving their employees, some of them long-term, looking for a job. US Tower employment has been up and down since opening the facility in 2001. Work performed in the Lincoln facility will be moved to the company’s main headquarters in Woodlake, Calif.
