Girl Scouts Giving Back

The Girl Scout troop 20636 deserve an honorable mention this week, as they are sharing the love with COOKIES! The Lincoln Girl Scouts were able to deliver 15 cases (180 boxes) of cookies to the Lincoln County food bank and to the Lincoln County Sheriff ’s office through the Care and Share program.

“To be or not to be?” That is the question that has never been posed on the Sterling College Theatre stage. It comes from the “grandaddy” of all English drama – Shakespeare’s Hamlet, which will be staged on Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23 at 7:30 pm in Upper Wilson on the College campus.

Music students qualify for State Music Festival

On Saturday, April 9, the Sylvan-Lucas Unified High School Music Students traveled to Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas to participate in the Regional Music Festival. Those ensembles and students who qualified for the State Music Festival with one ratings are as follows: Men’s Vocal Ensemble; Girl’s Vocal Ensemble; Mixed Vocal Ensemble; MeKelle Hurlbut, Vocal Solo; Kaylee Johnson, Vocal Solo; Keeli Knobbe, Vocal Solo; Addie Wallace, Vocal Solo; Sydney Heller, Vocal Solo; Anna Feldkamp, Vocal Solo; Harlan Pancost, Vocal Solo; and Addie Wallace, Baritone Saxophone Solo. The State Music Festival will be held at Hesston College on April 30, 2022.

Rasmussens Celebrate 65th Wedding Anniversary

Ray and Pat Rasmussen, formerly of Lincoln, KS will celebrate their 65th Wedding anniversary on April 21, 2022. Pat Kilpatrick and Ray Rasmussen were married on Easter Sunday in 1957 at The First Christian Church, Great Bend. The couple became acquainted and engaged while students at Kansas State University. The Rasmussens lived most of their married lives in Lincoln.

Area students bring home the gold from Job Olympics

Students from both USD298 and USD299 traveled to Manhattan, KS March 3 to compete in the Job Olympics. Job Olympics is a competition developed to promote transition and employability skills for a broad spectrum of high school students in special education. More than 100 students with 27 work simulations and three levels of difficulty including pre-Basic, Basic and Advanced. Competitions representing actual job and employment situations are judged by business people from the community and professionals in education. At the awards ceremony, the top schools and competitors are recognized with ribbons, medals and trophies.
