Tescott High School senior, Rhett Robbins recently learned how it felt to take a big step into adulthood. After having participated in rodeos since he was just a tot, Robbins just won his first professional contest.

Lincoln’s city clerk, Heather Hillegeist, was recognized by the Lincoln City Council and Mayor Travis Schwerdtfager for her recent accomplishments as a city clerk. In October of last year Hillegeist became one of only 30 city clerks state-wide who have earned a Master Municipal Clerk designation. The designation took eight years of study, state-wide participation and hard work to complete.
Like it or not, the flu season is upon us, and because we were saturated for a few years with COVID guidelines we may have forgotten when all we had to concern ourselves with was a seasonal flu or a stomach virus. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has helped explain the differences in winter ailments.
While not a nomadic culture, Americans are not afraid to move. They might move in favor of a more suitable house. They might move to accept an exceptional job opportunity. They might move to be closer to family members. Others might move to take advantage of certain amenities. Obviously, it is far easier to move ourselves than to move the mountain, so to speak, but some people refuse to take the path of least resistance. Eddie and Julie Flores are two of those people.
Sitting on a board of directors is not a simple task, and contrary to popular belief, it involves commitment, genuine interest and much more time than a monthly meeting. The board is responsible for major decisions, financial stability, personnel, government regulations and requirements that might affect them, preserve the institution and provide longevity. These are just a few of their responsibilities.
In November 2022, three Lincoln Junior/Senior High School students entered Last November, the Appelley Publishing National Student Poetry Contest. Students submitted a poem of no less than 2 lines and no more than 20 lines of original work.
