Lincoln’s own homegrown pie shop has added new things to the mix. No, they aren’t changing their recipes. And no, they aren’t adding new flavors. They are adding reasons for folks to visit Lincoln.
Community volunteers clean up LES grounds
According to Children’s’ Librarian Mary Andersen reports the summer was a ‘great success” with 145 children, 28 teens and 21 adults signed up for the 10-week program. A record 74 students completed their reading log in full, winning passes to Kenwood Cove water park in Salina. Additionally, over 400 reading prizes were earned by participants in each age group.
The Lincoln County Historical Society is sponsoring another Movie Night at the Museum on Saturday, August 20 at 7 pm. The movie this month is “Monster Trucks.”
Making the choice to serve their country is a big decision to make. This choice takes you away from home and your loved ones, will require you to be in dangerous areas and while the benefits aren’t bad, the pay scale is less than many less dangerous professions. On the bright side, a military life takes you places you never thought you’d go, and some you’d rather not have been and provides the opportunity to make lifelong friends. The military families in Lincoln are like most – they hate deployment and love their homecoming. They hate missing their child’s first step or first visit from the Tooth Fairy, or any holiday, but they love coming home to see their children haven’t forgotten them.
Quilting has become a favorite among Lincoln ladies and steps are being taken to make it an even more popular pastime.
The Post Rock Community Foundation is accepting applications for fall grants. Online applications opened August 1 and are due Saturday, October 1, 2022.
The chance to drive a derby car became a reality with a $10 ticket purchased at the Lincoln County-Sylvan Grove Fair Demo Derby on Saturday, July 23, 2022. All monies collected for selling tickets went to the Ty and Tish Heenan to help off-set medical costs as their 2 year old daughter Taci was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis Many helped make this event happen: Frederick Drywall & Painting, Sylvan Grove; Frederick-Rhudolph Welding, Sylvan Grove; Home Oil Service & Convenience Store, Lucas, KS; The Ventrel Graphic Design, Russell, KS; Steve and Liz Ammon of Sylvan Grove, KS; Lucas-Sylvan News of Lucas, Kansas; and the event was organized by John and Jessica Rhudolph family of Lucas, Kansas.
